The workshop uses only reversible methods of restoration. We use only animal glues which were already in use in the XVII and XVIII centuries, either cold (fish glue) or warm (nerve and bone glue).

We remove the veneer only if it is absolutely necessary, and the different pieces are meticulously numbered so that they can be put back into their original place (see below, the side-view of a mid-eighteenth century chest of drawers with a Vassou stamp). Likewise, we only replace the veneer when it is completely unavoidable, since retaining the original parts is important if the character of the antiques is to be fully respected.

As far as possible, the veneering is done using antique wood, which is stuck using traditional methods, either with the veneering hammer or using special presses.
All the wood is stained using chemical procedures which do not affect the structure of the wood, and the varnishing is done exclusively by hand, using shellac varnishes which are prepared at the workshop according to tried and tested formulae.

The bronzes and locks are serviced and cleaned carefully, and the keys are made in the workshop, except when the lock is very complex.
